Gamecube Disk Read Error Fix

This happened to my cube about a year back, it died a few months after I did this, so don`t expect this to be permanent, though my friend apparently had this problem too and his cube is still running fine. Your results may vary.

Anyways, first you need to get the top part off. Do this by either buying a gamebit, or melt the end of a pen, and while its hot putting it on the screw so it forms to the shape (this is what I did).

Ok, once thats off, you need to unscrew the fan and the metal thing that the disk drive is sitting on.
Once thats done, you should have:

On the bottom of that, there are 4 screws, remove those. Now you have the drive, what you want to do is adjust the potentiometer.
Turn the potentiometer about 1 degree clockwise with a small screwdriver:

Now, reassemble it(don`t screw anything in yet), and play it for a while, if it gets the error again, slightly adjust it again. Repeat till it works fine. Then reassemble it.

Or, if you`re bored and feel like being 1335, you can play your cube with the top off. All you need to do is tape down the 2 prong things in the back of the cube:

For some reason, I don`t have the back part, or the top part for that matter, but you can use a 2x1 lego piece to hold it down:

It runs perfectly fine that way too. It will also work without screws if you`re lazy like me and didn`t feel like putting them back in.
