Just finished a playthrough of Fate.
The following bugs are present :
" 'I stuck my hard spoon into Saber's warm soup. As I stiTohsaka looked at me with a weird look'
'Tohsaka looked at me with a weird look.' "
AnoNL, do you have any plans to port UBW? It would be awesome if you could somehow do that as well.
>>10
does it save the script, but not position?
I fixed that, it`ll be in the next release.
>>11
No, saves nothing. If I try to save, it'll ask for confirmation, but the thumbnail won't change. No save file is created, either.
Using VNDS 1.3.4 with FSN 0.8 on an R4 with the latest kernel and a Sandisk 2GB TF card.
Also, I tried it with VNDSx, and the same thing happened.
>>12
sounds like an SD card problem.
can other homebrew things save?
>>12
Open the folder for your novel and make sure there's a folder named, "save" or something. If it's not there, create it.
My friend had the same problem, and creating that folder solved it.
>>14
Ahah. That fixed it. Who'd have thought it'd be so simple. Thanks.
You're welcome. :3
I'm playing this on DS-X, and I'm currently stuck at
SPOILERS
The second Berserker fight, where you have to pick whether you stop Saber from using Excalibur or not. After I pick an option, the text swaps back to an earlier part of that scene, and I can't get past.
END OF SPOILERS
Apologies for the silly layout, but I don't want to spoil anyone's game.
No, I'm using the newest one I found at GBATemp.
>>19
get the weeaboo.nl one. its newer than mine(I need to fix this eventually).
it should work in vnds (my copy works at least).
0.9, to my knowledge, just added voice.
>>22
Well, I downloaded the one without voice (No torrents for me).
And I ran into another problem, while I was playing through, all of the sudden all text from script hf04-11, after saving Saber the first time from Berserker, all text turns Japanese from then on.
The savefile format changed, so you have to convert your old saves to the new format using the novel manager: http://weeaboo.nl/article/fate/NovelManager-1.1.jar or through a web script: http://www.digital-haze.net/files/vnds/fixsave.php
New in 0.9:
Heaven's Feel isn't blocked off anymore and the default save file has UBW cleared. Because of that, you get some new options in the first few days of the game.
Thanks a bunch!
It also works on my VNDS now.
But is Heaven's Feel suppose to be left Japanese, and is being worked on?
>But is Heaven's Feel suppose to be left Japanese, and is being worked on?
The Fate-route keeps sending me to the <BAD END> for lack of Saber Affection Points.
After enough tries, I just grabbed a walkthrough and it still happens.
Or do I have to start over without using the skip button?
hey guys I'm having trouble with the sound in FSN, I put it in the folder but do I have to label it for it to play in the bgs?
i don't know why...but for some reason, the images don't load at all, and the only music that plays is the title theme...is there a reason for that? or does one have to extract all the files from the zip archives?
FYI, Heaven's Feel is out as of about ten minutes ago.
"mirror moon is happy to finally announce the release of Fate/stay night English v3.1, the which translates the entirety of the game."
hell yeah bitches
FSN DS v1.0 has been released
http://www.weeaboo.nl/index.php?aid=15
there's no seeders >_<
>>35
I'm working on it. Non-voiced DDL should be up within 24 hours.
I don't suppose there's a chance for a DDL for the voice files?
Also can I use the previous voice files for Fate v1?
Sucks not being able to torrent.
It's awesome.I'll test it:)
And the CN new version I'll fix it this month if no exam:)
I've been testing the new FSN 1.0... Complete with Heaven's feel. It works, but there's something odd. When I was using 0.9 (The previous release with everything but Heaven's Feel translated, and voices for Fate and UBW) there was no space between lines, and the voices took an extra half second to load, but only that extra half second. I'm using the same version of VNDS, but now the voice files take upwards of 3 seconds to load, each, so the game is progressing extremely slowly. I'm going to try it unvoiced to see if that fixes it, but that seems rather odd.
Also, the game freezes much more often now, though I have no way of knowing if it only does that on my m3...
Incidentally, I noticed that all the voice files are in the 'sound' folder now, instead of in the sound.zip/sound folder. I tried placing them the way they used to be, in the sound.zip, but that /really/ didn't work. Any thoughts?
P.S.
The sound files taking 3 seconds to load may not seem like a huge deal, but keep in mind Fate Stay Night has a habit of having certain scenes with many sounds between the lines of text, up to 10 or 20. So factor that in, and realize that some scenes, it is taking a full minute or more to get to the next line of text. Often. That ... is pretty bad.
Update, worse than before.
Not only does the unvoiced version of Fate very seriously not make a difference in the speed of the speech portions being loaded... but despite carefully keeping my save files (of a completed Fate and UBW) in the folder, when I first ran the unvoiced version it /deleted/ all my saves o.O; Does anyone have a global.sav with Heaven's feel unlocked? X.x;;
>>43
vnds can only read uncompressed .zip files (Compression level "store" or something similar).
I've updated my converter to throw away the extra blank lines. The next release won't have those blank lines anymore.
>>44
Putting everything in .zip's makes it much faster. When using zip-files the filetable is kept in memory for fast access. But when everything's just stored as regular files, the filetable has to be loaded from disk every time a file is opened or attempted to be opened. The unvoiced edition still tries to open voice files, but they don't exist so it continues after determining the file doesn't exist.
tl;dr It's slow because there are (too) many files in the background/foreground/sound folders.
>>45
v1.0 has Heaven's Feel unlocked by default. Just copy the save/GLOBAL.SAV file to the save folder on your card.
anoNL: You are made of win. That is all.
Well, that and you gave me the info about zips. I wasn't loading them into the zip file on the non-compression mode, I was using the default compression setting. Thank you. Again.
well, it seems I need to upload the original sound.zip instead of the repackaged one.
I managed to put background/ foreground/ script/ sounds/ (repack sounds/ on a unix vm to solve case sensitive file name) in separate zip files. ^___^
Am I missing something.. is there no background music? I saw references to .mp3 in the script files (e.g. special/title.mp3) but I cannot find it the sounds tar file. Correct me if I miss any previous post. Thanks.

Don't put .mp3 in zip file
The download for FSN on the VNDS site is different to the >>39 rapidshare download, the rapidshare one has the files pre-zipped and music. You might want to put the rapidshare link there.
Guide on how to get Fate/Stay Night working with sound and background music.
I'm assuming you know how to get files out of .7z and .tar.gz files, WinRAR should do it fine if you have it already.
1: Download http://rapidshare.com/files/160619893/FateDS-1.0-unvoiced.7z
2: Download http://digital-haze.net/files/vnds/novels/fate/fate-sound.tar.gz
3: Make a folder called "Fate" and then open FateDS-1.0-unvoiced.7z, inside will be a folder called "base_install", go into it.
4: Get the files called "background.zip, foreground.zip, script.zip, default.ttf, icon.png, info.txt, thumbnail.png" and the folders called "save" and "sound" and put them into the "Fate" folder you made earlier.
5: Extract everything out of the file "fate-sound.tar.gz", it get tricky here so read carefully.
About 20 files in this .tar.gz have the same names as others but different casing.
The program you are using to extract files (WinRAR in my case) should tell you that some files have the same name and you can either Overwrite, leave it, or rename the file.
Rename the files so they are in a different folder. (eg. Instead of being "sound/Agrn.aac" you have "fix/sound/Agrn.aac") But make sure they are still in a folder called "sound".
6: After all the files extract, get the folder named "sound" and turn it into a .zip with "store" as the compression level.
7: After that is done, you will have a file called "sound.zip" copy that so it is in the same folder as the other "sound" folder. (eg. I got the folder called "sound" and zipped it up, then moved it into the "fix" folder and put the zip in there)
8: Get the other "sound" folder and turn that into a zip with "store" compression and it should merge with the other zip.
9: Copy the end "sound.zip" into the "Fate" folder you made and put that into VNDS, it should work.
If nobody got this I can make pictures.
Disregard that, he has the voices and sound on the main page now.
>>51
Instructions did mention that. In my case I can't find any .mp3 file in fate-sound.tar.gz. Only .aac and .wav files exists. I repacked to zip after finding some duplicates under windows.
>>52
I am using fate-1.0.tar.gz. I will try out the 7z. Didn't realize that unvoiced.7z may have mean only voice removed. ^___^
>>53
(6)-(8): Thanks. Is this a workaround for adding files with the same name but different cases under Windows? Using WinRAR 3.71, I test created a zip and then append it again using the folder structure (using dummy file with different content) as below. WinRAR still updates the content though. o__o?
1) fate/sound/ <== In fate/ folder, right click sound/ folder, "Add to sound.zip". Zip the original sound files?
2) fate/fix/sound/ <== Move sound.zip (created above) into fix/, right click sound/, "Add to sound.zip". Zip the duplicate sound files?
>>54
Will try it out once the tracker up. In the meantime I will try using the unvoice.7z together with repacked sound zip. ^___^
>>55
It works! ^_______^
There's a different instruction, setup based on route, etc. Nice stuff!
Porting effort is very greatly appreciated, anoNL (look >> source << code *__* a lot of work)
Quick question. I haven't been following vnds's progress. The last version I downloaded was the one right before vndsX. Fate/Stay Night froze a lot on that version, and it freezes very often on vndsX as well (Every 15-20 minutes).
I have to save every few lines to get past this. So my question is, is this a result of the program still being in beta, or is there something wrong at my end?
>>57
It's a problem with the program itself. You could try using a beta version from the "vndsx 1.4.0 beta" thread.
I love you.
I would have never played F/S Night on my PC because I don't have time and it#s not that comfortable.
Because of you I can finally play this masterpiece.
Thank you, and sorry if this is in the wrong section.
Thanks, anoNL. I'll give that a try. :)
