netxmms is a server which allows you to remotely control any XMMS [www.xmms.org] based media player this includes Beep Media Player [www.beep-media-player.org] and Audacious [www.audacious-media-player.org]. Possibly some other forks, too). It is complimented by clients which (should) run on other machines. netxmms will only run (properly) on systems which can also run XMMS-type media players (XMMS, BMP, Audacious).

Presently, netxmms-gtk is available for both the win32 platform and other GTK+ supporting systems (possibly with some change to source). netxmms-gtk is a client to netxmms, and should compile under windows (with GTK+ libraries and runtime), Linux (with GTK+ libraries), and possibly other systems (cross-platform code). No windows executable is available due to my intolerance to win32 development (or win32's intolerance to logical programming).

I have also written netxmms-nds, which is a client for the Nintendo DS. It features all the abilities of netxmms-gtk and is probably more convenient for some people to use. It still has some issues (see its README), but it is fully functional.

Important! Read the README file that comes with the packages, it contains some (possibly) important notes which may be of relevance.

As you can see it's pretty straightforward and minimalistic (lacking) in features. If I get unlazy I'll add more.
